Program Eligibility and Selection

Program Eligibility and Selection

Students that are currently high school sophomores or juniors are eligible to apply for the Young Scholars Program.  Students should have an aptitude and passion for mathematics and science as well as an interest in pursuing science or engineering studies.  We require that participants live in MA and within commuting distances of Northeastern University campus, as this is not a residential program. Students are expected to be on campus Monday through Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. They are responsible for their daily commute to Northeastern University during the program.

The Young Scholars Program gives priority to students who have not previously been afforded or have low access to similar opportunities for academic advancement.

Applications are evaluated based on materials listed in the application checklist; no previous work or study experience in a program of this nature is required.  No application will be reviewed until completed, as noted in the checklist. Applications received after the deadline may not be reviewed. Accepted students will receive notification by the first week in May, and must return a signed commitment letter and health form prior to the start of the program. Due to the intensity of the program, we cannot make provision for vacation or personal time except under extreme circumstances.

*The number of students in the program varies, as it is based upon continued funding from a variety of sources.
