Claire Duggan

Director of Programs and Partnerships

Over the past twenty+ years Claire has been involved in the design and implementation of multiple STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) educational outreach programs. She has worked extensively to bridge connections between higher education’s research community and its educational partners from K-14. Her work has led to deep understanding and respect for the partner community that Higher Education seeks to support. It has also has provided her multiple opportunities to mentor university students interested in sharing their passion for science, engineering and innovation.

Claire’s continued goals are to utilize this expertise to design and implement innovative programs and partnerships that effectively engage individuals and communities currently underrepresented in these fields and to support the development of the next generation of STEM professionals, and that meet our rapidly changing regional and national technological needs.

Maureen Cabrera

Program Coordinator

Maureen graduated from Northeastern University in 2015 with a BS in Industrial Engineering and Minor in Business Administration. This past summer she coordinated the Young Scholars Program with Maddy Leger. In the upcoming year she will continue to support the various programs offered by the Center for STEM, which include the K-12 field trips, the new student organization STEMOut, the BPS Science Fair, and the after-school programs. Her interest in STEM outreach comes from her love of engineering and passion for teaching and inspiring young minds. She loves to travel and has been to Italy, Israel, France, Austria, Hungary, Mexico, Canada, and various states in America. Maureen enjoys hiking, boating, and beaching. She also has a slightly unhealthy obsession with Jimmy Fallon.

Leo Mitchell

Program Coordinator

Leo is pursuing a BS in Bioengineering at Northeastern. Since he started working at the Center for STEM in 2014, Leo has primarily supported the K-12 field trips, the TRANSFORM program, and the BPS Science Fair. Much of his work is design-related. Outside of the Center for STEM, Leo serves as a project leader and PR Representative for Enabling Engineering, a campus organization that completes engineering projects for people with disabilities. This year Leo is working with Maddy and Maureen to found STEMOut, a new club at Northeastern. He grew up in St. Louis, and he sometimes has to convince his mom that he doesn’t miss his dogs back home more than he misses her.
